When you hear the name, Mount and Blade, your mind immediately goes some centuries back. The complex world of the medieval ages has for long time being romanticized by many. In the world of computer games, the medieval world often coexists with fantasy elements. But this is not the case of Mount & Blade, a game with a lot of new innovations for computer gaming.
Basically, Mount & Blade is a role playing game - you create your character and even answer some questions about his past, in order to assign his attributes. Then, you are pitched in a non-fantasy, medieval world called Calradia. There is no storyline, basically you create your own fate. You can join one of five warring kingdoms, become a mercenary, outlaw or just do whatever pleases you. You can travel to random towns and complete quests, fight in tournaments, recruit mercenaries among other things. If you join a kingdom you can become a vassal and then you will be allowed a fiefdom and you will be getting taxes from it. You can gather huge armies and fight other armies. Combat here is more than a simple click and slash, and you have to master movement, defense, attack and shielding. The game is pretty much innovative in a lot of aspects, but its initial release is plagued with bugs and glitches. However the game is still in development and already has a huge amount of user-based content. This RPG is something new, and if you are attracted to medieval times, you are going to like it.
